Jesus said, “… I know that power has gone out from me.” (Luke 8:46)
It is interesting how we get alert on our mobile and a notification on email when any transaction is made on our bank account or credit card. Whether it is at a fuel pump, or at a store or buying something on the net or making an online bill payment. The moment credit or debit card is used, a message comes on the registered mobile stating that the card has been charged. And we know the amount of the money gone out of our bank account! What is fascinating is that most of the time we look up the message to verify if the amount is right! We have just made the payment and know the amount we have spent, approved it with a PIN, but still.
We are so sensitive and careful about our money that we want to know immediately if a debit is made to our account. Are we equally, if not more, sensitive about the Presence of God?
Picture this. Jesus sailed to the region of Gerasenes, heals a man and was asked to leave the region, sails back, gets out of the boat, crowd is waiting for him with expectation, goes to talk to them when Jairus comes and pleads Jesus to go with him to heal his daughter, starts to go with Jairus, turns again when someone touches his cloak. Bible says that the crowd almost crushed him. The circumstances were not very planned and ordered. People must be falling all over him. But Jesus absolutely knew, for sure, as soon as the power had gone out of him even when someone just touched the hem of his garment only.
Are we eager enough about the Presence of God that we are careful about our thoughts, words and deeds all the time? Not when we are in the church but even when no one is watching us.
Are you sensitive of the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit to your conscience and are you willing to surrender your will to him? Consider what is most precious to you.
