After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1-2
When Herod heard that Jesus would be born to be King and a shepherd of His people, he got frightened and made plan to kill Him. He thought that Jesus has come to take the land of Israel from him.
Jesus did not come to take land because the Pslamist says the whole world belongs to Him. How can He take what is already His? Jesus came not for landspace but heartspace. He gave man the freewill to choose Him or reject Him. Man for generations struggled to understand God. But the Wise men understood God as their King and desired to submit themselves under His Lordship and worship him. There is wisdom in making Jesus our Lord and King in our hearts this day.
